Home is Where the Heart Is

Here is a shape card that I made for a co-worker who is moving into a new home.  I am always inspired by one of my favorite cardmaker/bloggers Donna aka Popsicle Toes.  She is the queen of shaped cards in my opinion.  You can go see some of her work at http://donnamundinger-popsicletoes.blogspot.com/.  I made this card with the Winter Woodland House and Pagoda (the word heart in Japanese).  Hope you enjoy.

60th Birthday Card

A coworker and I came together to create the following card for her sister.  It is a really nice card and the final version actually contained Hebrew.  I took a picture of it and realized the Hebrew was missing.  Sorry it isn't here.

I used Gypsy Font for the Happy Birthday, numbers, and names.

Simple Christmas Cards

I decided to create some fairly simple greetingless holiday cards.  I love the paper I used for them.  I can't remember where the stripped paper came from.  I think it was Me and My Big Ideas.  I also used DCWV double sided cardstock and some Papertreyink paper.  I am trying to figure out how to cut clean cuts using the Cricut with the Papertreyink cardstock.  It is so thick that even on the highest pressure the cuts aren't always clean.  If you have any suggestions please let me know.  I cut the tree and the stocking from the Cricut Christmas Cheer Cartridge.

Kwanzaa Cards

Hi Everyone.  I have been doing some cards lately but I haven't put any up online.  Sorry.  A coworker asked me to do some Kwanzaa cards yesterday so I decided to give it a try.  I had to do a little research though.  The goblet on one is the called the Unity Cup which symbolizes unity among African peoples.  The corn represents the potential of children in the family.  A family puts out a ear of corn for each child representing their future potential.  I hope you like them and I hope to put some more Christmas cards up before the week is over.

Hannah Montana Cards

Here are more cards that I made just in case for my kids classmates.  Almost everyone loves Hannah Montana so I made some HM cards.  I love the music notes that come along with the cart and I also love my music Cuttlebug folder so I embossed the backgrounds of these cards.  Hope you enjoy and have a blessed day.

Cupcake Cards

I am going to make some cards up to keep because my children always have a friend who has a birthday.  So I made these cards as spares.  I hope you like them.

Happy Birthday Alicia.

My daughter Alicia turned 7 years old yesterday.  We went to Ihop to celebrate her birthday with pancakes.  The servers even came out to sing happy birthday to her.  She looked like a little deer in headlights.  She was more embarrased than happy.  Oh well.  I made some little treat bags for her class at school and she was so excited.  I think they came out pretty.  I used the Storybook marquis, Doodletype Font, and little butterflies from the Martha Stewart 3 butterfly punch.  I used the smaller butterflies as the dots for the "i"s in Alicia.  Well I hope you enjoy them.  She liked them and the attention they got.  The teacher loved that it wasn't cupcakes.  I tossed in a few M & Ms to provide a little sweetness to Chex Mix.  Sorry about the glare in the picture.  The cupcake paper and Alicia name paper has a sheen and it made it hard to photograph it well.  It is the Core'dinations cardstock and it is beautiful.  The white paper was American Craft which has a great texture and cuts well with the Cricut machine.

Cute New Carts

I saw a message on the Cricut.com message board that there are three new carts supposedly coming out in December.  They are the cutiest.  I will definitely be getting these.  I wasn't too excited about the Christmas ones but these are wonderful.

Here is the link to the website where I saw the images.

Merry Christmas

Hello Everyone.

As I said before, I am focusing more on scrapbook pages now.  I have made some cards but not as frequently as before.  I am still looking for a program that blurs faces.  If you know of a good one, that also adds text to a photo (ex. my name) I'd appreciate the advice.  Here is a Christmas card.  I made this one with Papertreyink Christmas Stamps.  They are wonderful and crisp.  A great image every time.  I used Cricut Doodle Charms, I think, for the die cut.  Thanks for looking and have a blessed day.

Blog Awards

Hello Everyone.

I'd just like to thank Shelley from shelleyscards.blogspot.com for her blog awards.  I am not the artist that I see many of my favorite card makers are but I can say that my cards come from my heart and the talent God has given me.  I hope you all are having a beautiful, blessed, and glorious day wherever you may be.

New Card

Hello Everyone.

I'm sorry that I've been out of commission for a few days.  I haven't been sick or anything.  Just reassessing my purpose for crafting.  I have focused on making scrapbook pages over the past few days.  I love seeing my pictures on beautiful pages and remembering the memories from the event. And like most of you, I'm pretty backed up in that area.  I am considering posting some but I want to protect the identity of the children in the photos so I am looking for a way to blur faces while not the rest of the photo.  If you have any suggestions I would welcome them.  So without further delay, here is a card for today.

Congrats

Blessings to you.

I am posting a Gypsy Wanderings card today.  I intend it for my male coworker who just received a promotion.  I am hesitant though.  I feel that many people don't necessarily appreciate home made things.  Some times I feel people would rather get something store bought from the dollar store rather than something hand made especially if they aren't particularly nostalgic.  Well I know you all will enjoy the card and appreciate it.  Thanks for your visit.

I used paper from a new DCWV Rustic pack I got at JoAnns.  It is so beautiful.  I also like this owl.  I put it on because I hope my colleague enjoys and uses wisdom in his new position.

HAVE A TRULY BLESSED DAY!!!!!!

A Happy Belated Birthday

Hello Everyone.

I have been procrastinating a little this weekend.  I did manage to finish four scrapbook pages of my daughter's 8th birthday but I only completed one card.  I wanted to make it special because it is for a friend who I hadn't talked to in many years until this year on Facebook.  So I hope you enjoy it.  I am going to start attempting to do cards from sketches this week.  I have developed a pretty static style and I am looking to shake things up a little.  I hope you enjoy this birthday card.  Have a blessed day.

Happy Weekend!

My family and I don't celebrate Halloween.  I have two daughters and they did go to a candy hunt at church but it is to let them have some candy on a day other than Halloween.  The month of October is hard for them.  The whole school curriculum is built to support skeletons, witches, ghosts, and goblins so my kids feel out of place.  We want to do as God commands to "Worship the Lord and serve him only."  We don't want one moment of our lives to be taken away from that goal if possible. Standing out is part of our worship.  Also we believe that worship is anything you spend your time obsessively thinking about and kids do get pretty obsessive when it comes to Halloween.

I continuously wonder why can't kids learn about harvest during this time with Halloween not being the focut of October.  How can we say we want healthy children if their whole focus is how much candy they are going to get and what costume they are going to wear all month long.  Kids also need to know where their food really comes from and why we should be thankful for the work of farmers.  Thus we don't celebrate Halloween but we do want to show the love of God to everyone and we do not judge those who believe in God but choose to celebrate Halloween anyway.  That is their choice.  It is amazing how our choice not to celebrate Halloween becomes misconstrued by a sometimes well-meaning but misguided world.  I begin to feel like the world believes I'm not a good mother because I "take Halloween away" from my children. Well I hope you enjoy the card today and don't mind my banter.  Have a wonderfully blessed weekend.

Here is an extra picture of a makeover card I did for my coworker.  She liked the previous Feliz Cumpleanos card for her friend Lidia but her coworkers didn't like it a lot.  They are a little younger so I can understand.  I made this card for them, she took the first card and gave it from her alone.  Hope you enjoy.

For His Glory

Blessings Everyone

My primary purpose for card making is to provide love, comfort, joy, the knowledge of God, etc. to people.  If I couldn't do cards for God, I wouldn't want to do them at all.  And even if the card doesn't say a scripture, in my opinion, it can still minister to the needs of God's people.  And in my opinion everyone on this planet whether they believe it or not is a person of God. So here are some cards which help others (and myself) to spread his love through a small piece of beauty.  The "For God So Loved" stamp is a 3 dollar stamp from http://www.vervestamps.com/ and the "Thanks for Being a Friend" is from a set by Our Daily Bread Images http://www.ourdailybreaddesigns.com/. I experimented with Gypsy welding with the Praying4U image and I'm still trying to tweak it and see what I can put behind it to make it show up best.  There is a small piece of the black, white and gray glitter paper from yesterday behind the one with the purple flowers on it.  Thanks for looking and have a wonderful weekend. If you celebrate Halloween remember God during your celebrations.

Pink and Black Birthday Card

Blessings Everyone

Here is another birthday card post.  I love the background glitter paper on this one.  Every since I bought the Glitter Stack by DCWV I have been using the black, white, and gray papers a lot.  It is actually my favorite paper from the pack.  People love their look when paired with black cardstock.  The cardstock is a pack from AC Moore I think.  It is the American Crafts brand.  It has nice weight, texture, and cuts pretty well with the Cricut.  Just make sure your blade is sharp and you are using the right blade depth with your Cricut.  I also feel that this is an elegant card especially since it uses pink and black.  I am still considering adding an extra element to the bottom right hand corner but the embossed white cardstock in the background and the balloons say it all.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY.  I hope you have a wonderful day today.

Birthday Card

Hello Everyone.

I am calling this an elegant/simple birthday card but elegance can be in the eye of the beholder.  They are simple cuts from the Celebration cartridge and green and yellow take center stage here.  I cut the happy birthday, starbursts, and balloons out of the Celebration and mat paper, although hard to is pale yellow with an extra white embossed mat on top of it.  I embossed it with with the Happy Birthday Cuttlebug Embossing folder.  I hope you enjoy it.

Blessings

Stamped Christmas Card

Hello Everyone.

Here is one of my favorite Christmas cards.  It is fairly simple but I just loved the message.  The stamp is from Papertreyink.com.  I cut the gold frame and red frame using Winter Woodland I think.  I embossed the gold paper with dots and the red paper with my music embossing folder.  I liked that the Papertreyink set had a star separate so I could make stars all around.  I didn't mean for the white border to be as wide as it was but took advantage of the space for a few more stamped images.  I love it for it's beauty and simplicity.

Busy Weekend

Hello Everyone.

I have had a busy weekend and I have been working on some Christian cards.  This one isn't for Christmas but it is nice for encouragement.  I have been playing with Gypsy Wanderings and Don Juan.  I haven't had DJ for a long time but I like it alot.  It makes nice welded words including the dots at the top as well.  Hope you are having a wonderfully blessed day.

Christmas Cards

I love Winter Woodland and although I am going to make more Christian cards I want to share some cards I made using Winter Woodland and Core'dinations cardstock this week.  I hope you enjoy them.  I also used some of my Verve, Papertreyink, and Our Daily Bread stamps on some of them.

New Card

Hi Everyone.  I have been making cards but not posting a lot lately.  I do want to share a new masculine card with you.  It is for a fishing fan and it is from his grandchildren to him.  I used Going Places, PDDU, Base Camp, Alphalicious, and Don Juan.  I hope you like it.  I colored the fishing background with chalks so it is a little pale but it is darker and sparkles in real time.

Cricut, Cuttlebug, and Cutting Cafe

Hi Everyone.  These are some cards I created with images from Cricut but also the Cutting Cafe.  Regina has some great images.  You can go visit her site at http://www.reginaeaster.blogspot.com/.  From there you can go to the Cutting Cafe and get the Happy Birthday greetings.

Feliz Cumpleanos

Hi Everyone.

I am making a birthday card today. It is a Spanish one.  I was inspired by a blogger Details by Sandy at http://www.detailsbysandy.blogspot.com/.  She is so talented and I love how her pages have lots of detail and layers.  I am not the happiest about this card but I think it was a good first attempt.  Hopefully I will get better at the details as I make more cards and explore more.  I hope you enjoy it anyway.

Be blessed.

Christmas and Thinking of You

Hello Everyone.  I hope you are having a blessed day.  I want to share a Christmas card and a Thinking of You.  I stamped the Christmas card using a set I got from Papertrey Ink.  I really like their stamps and began using them because of Robyn the Pink Stamper at http://www.mypinkstamper.com/.  Keep her in your prayers because she has been sick with H1N1.

I like Papertreyink because the stamps make beautiful images.  The font for Christ is from Opposites Attract  I want to make more Christmas cards focused on the reason for the season and I think this one does it.  I hope you like it.

Also I made another felt card with my favorite felt leaves.  I also experimented with chalk this weekend.  I think it is so much more forgiving than ink.  Again, have a wonderful day and please come back for more cards later this week.
